Quality

Our Quality Standards

Quality, Verified at Every Step
Every Vital Plan formula is developed under physician oversight, sourced to defined specifications, and independently third-party tested — before and after production — for identity, purity, and potency.

We believe you should know exactly what goes into your body — and how it’s verified.

Third-Party Testing — Before and After Manufacturing
We partner with ISO 17025-accredited labs to test at two critical stages:

1. Incoming Ingredient Lots
Every ingredient lot is tested before production to confirm it meets our specifications for identity, purity, and safety.

2. Finished Product Batches
Every finished batch is validated to confirm potency, purity, and consistency before release.

While some brands rely on periodic supplier verification (“skip-lot testing”), we test every single batch of product to ensure consistent quality from bottle to bottle.

What We Test For — And Why It Matters
Identity

Confirms the correct botanical species and plant part using scientifically valid methods such as HPTLC testing.

Potency
Confirms that active compounds are present at the levels specified on the label.

Microbiological Contaminants
Screens for microbes, including total plate count, yeast and mold, E. coli, Salmonella, and others.

Pesticides
Raw materials are sourced to meet strict pesticide-free specifications. Suppliers provide documentation, and select materials and finished products are periodically tested to verify compliance.

Heavy Metals
Tests for lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury using ICP-MS technology.

Blend Consistency
Verifies that each batch contains the correct formulation in uniform amounts.

Allergens
Confirms the absence of common allergens, including dairy, fish, eggs, gluten, shellfish, peanuts, sesame, and soy (as applicable).

We are happy to provide Certificates of Analysis (COAs) on any and all of our products upon request.

Physician-Led Formulation

Our Medical Director, Dr Bill Rawls, oversees formulation strategy. Each product is designed around the active chemical compounds found in herbs, selecting ingredients based on their properties and how they work together to create thoughtful synergy.

We use standardized botanical extracts, specify the proper plant parts, and formulate with research-informed dosages based on modern clinical research and traditional use.

Selective Sourcing
We carefully evaluate raw material sources based on environmental conditions, purity, and potency. We give strong preference to sustainable growers and wildcrafters and define ingredient specifications before approval.
Only materials that meet our standards move forward into production.

GMP Manufacturing Standards
Our primary manufacturing partners operate under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and undergo third-party facility inspections.
Quality checks occur throughout production — from raw material verification to in-process controls and finished batch validation — ensuring each product meets our defined specifications before release.

Industry Commitment
We actively support quality and sustainability in the herbal industry through professional associations and partnerships. [AHPA-American Herbal Products Association, and SHI-Sustainable Herbs Initiative]
